Here is an overview of the
additions and changes included in PolyBoost 2.1 3ds max 8 |
|
|
PolyBoost
now also works in 3ds max 8. Version 2.1 still works as normal in 3ds
max 5, 6 and 7. |
|
|
New interface |
|
Highly streamlined for better workflow, nicer look and feel, and better
management of screenspace. Add and remove rollouts dynamically. Options
added for saving the interface setup and ability to turn on Autolaunch
for the main
interface when 3ds max is initialized. There are also many interface
improvements
throughout many of the various dialogs in PolyBoost. |
|
Automatic Updates |
|
When 3ds max is started PolyBoost will now optionally check if there is
a newer
version or update of PolyBoost available. If there is, the user can choose
to
automatically update PolyBoost with the new changes.. This is a good way
to
keep PolyBoost updated with the latest additions and fixes! |
|
PolyDraw - SwiftLoop |
|
Insert/Place a loop at a specific position on an edgering. Great for
adding
geometry around edges that is to be subdivided. Slide edges/edgeloops
across an
edgering. Very fast workflow. Also includes the ability to automatically
insert
loops and set the flow to fit it to the surrounding surface, removing
loops and
selecting loops for sliding.
|
|
PolyDraw - PolyBranch |
|
Paint multisegmented extrusions from polygons in screenspace with optional
tapering to form "branches". |
|
Other additions and changes |
|
Drawing distance tolerence in PolyTopo increased. This
means you can now
draw much faster without having the line stop drawing.
Speed increases
in the Draw tools of PolyDraw.
Better memory efficiency in the Topology tools for
larger meshes and memory
error checking. Optional Undo off mode which also makes the tools faster.
Shift-clicking RemoveLoop now only removes the selected
edges,verts, faces
instead of the whole loop.
GrowLoop now works on open edges. Color tolerance added for BitmapSelect so that the
color in the bitmap does not
have to be exact but is allowed to differ slightly. |
Go to the Videos
section of the website to view videos of the tools in action.
Go here to view a list
of all the featured tools in PolyBoost.
Available for download is also the PolyBoost user-reference with more
extensive
descriptions of the tools and interface: Download Some notes about the tools:
PolyBoost will work in 3ds max versions 5 - 9, 2008 and 2009. Most of the
tools work on all subobjectlevels, so it's one tool for all modes. UVW-mapping
is kept
intact for all the modeling tools and work with modifiers in the stack.
Many tools
have an optional functionality when the shift key is pressed. This will
either apply
the tool on the current selection only, or do another variation of the
tool. Shortcuts
are available for all tools that do not require an interface in order
to be useful. The
PolyBoost main interface, where all tools can be found is always available
by
shortcut key or from a quadmenu. |
